David Jones, originally from Augusta, Georgia, received his BFA in sculpture from the University of Georgia in 2000. For the following year he resided in Birmingham, Alabama where he worked in the Sloss Metal Arts Artist-in-Residency program casting iron before going on to pursue his masters degree. The industrial surroundings of the Sloss site and the greater Birmingham area later surfaced as a significant influence on the aesthetic in Jones's work. In 2004 he received his MFA in sculpture from the University of Tennessee and then moved to the Rocky Mountain west in Laramie, Wyoming with his wife who is an assistant professor in sculpture at the University of Wyoming. The western landscape is another influence that has surfaced in the aesthetic and themes of Jones's more current work. David currently resides and works out of Laramie and exhibits primarily throughout the intermountain west in cities such as Denver, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
